The best of times, the worst of times. This is how I sometimes feel about toddlerhood. I was thinking about this a lot on Thursday afternoon when G was just having a moment. A moment when Ben was out to lunch with a friend & everything was a battle. Lunch got thrown on the floor, dogs were getting hit, & I was getting kicked while changing a diaper.
G was overtired & crying. I'll be honest, I started crying.
It got me thinking about this stage we are in & how crazy it is. This age is so much fun. But? It is SO trying.
The things that this child says keep Ben & I laughing constantly. He is so funny & it is so fun to watch those wheels just spinning in his head as he figures something out. Grayson is literally learning something new every day.
This age is also the most challenging so far. He is talking so much but can't always communicate exactly what he wants. He gets so frustrated & will just turn into a toddler maniac. {hence food being thrown on the floor & my big ol' belly being kicked as I tried to put a clean diaper on him} oh, and the random demands?! Oh my word. Don't even get me started.
After I got him ready for his nap, I sat him on the chair with me in his dark bedroom and we just snuggled. Those moments are pretty rare. We just sat there & both calmed down. We had a moment.
I saw a quote on Twitter just minutes after he fell asleep that was one of those "smack ya in the face" moments...I so needed to hear it.
"The days are long but the years are short."
SO TRUE. Maybe it's because I am 9 months pregnant, maybe it's because my boy is nearly 2, but the days have seemed very long lately. We have great moments & we have epic toddler moments. But? I know that one day when my first baby is much older, I will miss even those tantrums. I'll wish he was that blonde-headed, strong-willed little 22 month old boy again.

I'm encountering this phase again with my 2nd little boy...and the days feel just as long. But I'm realizing that no matter how long a day can be, in a few weeks you won't even remember it :)
Even when he is having a moment, you always seem to find the silver lining and carry on with grace! You are a great Mommy Laura!
That quote is one I try to remember on the tough days too! Some days are easier said than done. Hang in there mama!
HUGS!!!!!
You're doing a great job. You can see it in his smile. He loves you so much.
Those moments are hard, I know, but just take them moment by moment. The good with the bad.
Hang in there!!!! This too shall pass!!!!
xoxoxo
i am totally with you 2 is tough... but that is a GREAT quote.. i really needed that today :)
I couldn't agree with this post more!!! Sometimes I'm just at a loss as to what to do make Addie happy but I know I'll miss these days and her sweet little personality (when shes not kicking and screaming on the floor;))
